Something Different – Winter Weather Preparation

Severe weather has not impacted many of us yet so now is the perfect time to prepare your home in the event of dangerous winter weather conditions.  Emergency supply kits should be stocked for at least 3 days for each member of your household.

Take measures to ensure your home is well-insulated with weather stripping around windows and doors, check your carbon monoxide and smoke detectors to ensure functionality, and have a contractor inspect items like windows, chimneys, fireplaces, and even that your roof can handle the potential weight of heavy snowfall.

As you check these areas of your home, make sure you have all of your legal documents, identification, and important paperwork somewhere secure.  Regular monitoring of such items is not only beneficial for the items themselves, but it prepares you to grab them quickly in the event of an emergency evacuation.

Take small measures now to ensure a safe and warm winter for you and your family.
