Have an attorney review documents from your child’s school before signing them.


New school year, new school paperwork.  It can be daunting, especially if you have more than one child and they are all involved in sports or other school activities.  In order to keep parents informed and reduce liability to the school, most activities, especially physical ones, require some form of liability waiver or other paperwork for students to participate.

If there is language in any of the paperwork you don’t agree with, you can mark through it to show that you don’t agree.  This may cause your student to be unable to participate in the event though, so be sure to seek advice from an attorney before signing or marking anything.  If you’re feeling overwhelmed with all of the paperwork and its legal lingo – reach out to your Legal Resources Plan Attorney for assistance in explaining it to you and your student.
